When Khajiit’s parents had their first child (of many), they tried to do things right. They bought a Build-a-Pedestal kit, the kind that includes all the pieces that you put together yourself, from Genikea. They set it up with pictures of loved ones passed on, (fake) flowers, all that kind of crap. They even lit a candle (twice!), for crying out loud! But doing all that every time for all those children grew… tedious. Khajiit was born somewhere in the middle, and by the time his crystal began to grow, he was placed on the same worn Build-a-Pedestal that they hadn’t even bothered painting or anything, and the same fake flowers minus a few that have gone missing over the years. There wasn’t really much thought in it, but it got the job done. It largely went ignored as it grew, except for the occasional child trying to throw it like a rugby ball. Which was a shame, because his was a beautiful crystal, with hues of red, orange and gold swirling and developing inside. Having no one to honor and care for him at the beginning of life taught Khajiit to honor and care for himself - and only himself.
