As a child, Vlastomil loved the outdoors. The moment he woke up, to the moment he went to sleep he would spend as much time as he could exploring the wilderness, often driving his poor parents completely mad. There was one particular day, one particular outing that changed the course of Vlasty’s life forever; the first time he met a worm. Not an earthworm, there were plenty of those around, in little holes in the garden or in vivariums in the house, but a significant size greatworm. He had been exploring in the forest for a while when the ground began to shake. From the floor erupted a large creature, bigger than a snake, in a nice warm shade of pink. Vlasty was shocked, but unafraid and he quickly approached the creature. It seemed to startle but as Vlasty approached it, it seemed to calm, as if sensing a kindred spirit of some kind. Vlasty reached out a hand and gently touched the snout of it with a soft paw. He smiled and gave it a small stroke. The worm curled itself up, placing itself gently into Vlasty’s lap. He sat there for a few minutes before the creature sat up and went on its way once more.
