Marianne knelt down, casting her eyes over the room that was so very familiar to her. She remembered important ceremonies from when she was young, all held in this room. Finally, she had made it home, although it looked a little different than she had expected. Instead of helping Moranatlis pick a new leader, she was here with the very prince she had vowed to slay- well king now, since his coronation the previous week. Now it was her time to be confirmed for her role. Knighted. It had always been her dream to serve her kingdom, when she was chased from it she wondered if she would ever be able to return and fulfil her dream. Yet here she was.

A sword placed on her shoulders, one then the other.

“Rise, Knight Marianne of Moranatlis, Captain of the Moranatlis royal guard.” Bog’s voice rang out, and she stood.

She shook his hand, her smile warm.

“Thank you your majesty, I won’t fail you.” She assured him.

He beamed in response. “I know, believe me. There’s no one else I would trust with this job.”

“Even though I tried to kill you?”

“Yeah, but you couldn’t.” He laughed. “We want the same things, we make the perfect team.”
