Marianne scraped her claws along the floor, tears flowing from her eyes. She hadn’t been able to kill him. He had saved her, told her she was good. She had him under his blade and what, he had offered her a job. He was waiting, in fact, at the local inn to be taken home. He asked her to go with him, to head up his royal guard. To show unity. She felt sick. Everything he had said about Moranatlis, and the kingdom. The things he said her father had done… She didn’t know what to think. Her father, if he was to be believed, was no better than his parents all along. All she wanted was for the kingdom she loved to prosper. Killing this man was supposed to be a symbol of that, but she just couldn’t do it. Her whole world had been thrown out of whack… Perhaps he was manipulating her to secure his power, or perhaps he too genuinely cared about what was going to be best for the kingdom. She had no way to know for sure, and that was AGONISING… Perhaps the only thing for it was to meet him and see, despite how the very thought made bile rise in her throat…
