A genekit’s transformation ceremony was usually something private and kept within families. Marianne’s, however, was a big public affair. Half the city were gathered in the coliseum, resulting in an almighty din from the crowd. Cheers and banging rang throughout the area, and Marianne closed her eyes. She must tune it out.

Suddenly, the gate lifted and out came a huge, lumbering creature. It was like a rhinoceros, its skin looked as tough as thick metal, and it had five horns, almost like a crown. Marianne narrowed her eyes. It was time. She closed her eyes momentarily, before looking up once more. The creature's bounding legs had slowed and she could see it just about moving. She thought through her moves, before darting at it. As she struck the creature, it sped up back to speed. It was too late though, as Marianne slid under the creature, plunging her sword into the soft flesh of its belly. As she did, her form rippled, sharp prongs emitting from her head, forming a silver arc around her head, as sharp as the sword she held. It fell to the floor, dead, in a matter of seconds. She had undoubtedly proved her power, and earned her crown.
