Rolan has been mostly alone for a lot of his life. After his father passed, it was just him and his two adoptive siblings. They have always been close, but Rolan always felt the need to protect them. Like his magic put him in the position of being the one who was supposed to look after him- he had promised his father as such. He sometimes behaved more as a parent than a sibling, which caused some friction at times but ultimately they are all very close.

This all changed when Rolan stumbled upon Arabella. He discovered the youngster sleeping in the disused greenhouse at the foot of his tower. She had threatened him with a trowel to let her leave without calling the authorities. Instead he offered her a hot meal and some spare, non soil covered clothes. It took a while for her to trust him at all, but eventually she let him in. Rolan took her in, accidentally ending up with a child. His siblings were thrilled, and took to Arabella immediately. All in all, Rolan’s family is small but he has a huge amount of love to give each and every one of them, and will always stick his neck out to protect them.
